ABOUT ME

My childhood was one of wanderings, open spaces and a great love for animals. I was a quiet, imaginative child who adored stories and loved to daydream. Art, however, was my first love and still maintains an extremely strong influence in all my work.

After finishing school, I trained as a nurse in Brisbane and eventually went on to work in allied health. Life became a little crazy with work, marriage, mortgage and children and it was many years before I returned to my creative side. This was when poetry made its bold and dominant entrance. This was a huge but wonderful surprise as I never saw myself as a poet.

What has followed has been an amazing and somewhat wild ride of learning, discovery, experimentation and evolution. Today, my work still swings on the wide creative arc between art and poetry but I am definitely more poet than artist – something I wouldn’t have any other way.
